Shadow Assistant Defence Minister Phillip Thompson has slammed the South Australian government’s “wishy-washy language” after the state decided to remove ANZAC Day.
Mr Thompson’s comments come after the South Australian Labor government legislated to delete ANZAC Day from the official Holiday Act.
“I’m not just offended by it, I’m pretty upset and I think it’s disgraceful,” he told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
“This nation was built on hard-fought battles that our brave men and women have fought in, and the freedoms we enjoy is because of that.
“Veterans rightly around the country will be quite upset and quite disappointed.”
